Privacy Policy

This policy explains the limited data handled by Town of Ithaca Residents Directory and the choices available to visitors. The service is a private reference to public-records routes and historical collections in the Town of Ithaca, New York. It has no user accounts and does not maintain a directory profile about visitors.

Information You Send Directly

A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the result flow. Our own servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and use it to respond.

Automatically Collected Data

Hosting services retain routine server-log details, such as IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and timestamps. We use aggregate information to maintain the service and understand general readership. Cookies or comparable tools may support basic analytics and, when used, advertising measurement.

How Limited Data Is Used

The limited information supports operation, troubleshooting, audience measurement, and page improvement. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.

External Websites

Links may lead to Town, County, New York, library, archive, court, or third-party search services. Their own privacy terms control information submitted after leaving this service. That includes sponsored-result tools operated by another company.

Parties That May Process Data

Providers that host or support the service process logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires disclosure and not otherwise.

Protecting Limited Data

The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the purposes described above. No account, password, or visitor profile is created here for visitors to maintain.

Visitors Under 18

The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If a minor has sent information to us, contact us so it can be removed.

Your Information Choices

You may ask about access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold. New York did not have a confirmed comprehensive consumer-privacy or data-broker deletion law in the research reviewed as of August 29, 2026; the bills and executive proposal found were not enacted. Because we retain very little, a request generally involves the contact mailbox and relevant server logs. Use the Contact page to make a request. Records held by a Town, County, or New York custodian are outside our control. For agency records, New York Freedom of Information Law (FOIL), Public Officers Law Article 6, §§84–90, and the responsible custodian’s procedures govern access or correction requests.

Policy Changes

Any revision will appear here. Continued use after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
